Police is obliged to serve people: Addl Com Nazrul Islam

DHAKA, Jan 5, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam today said they are committed to serve the people.  

“People have the right to get services. Police is  obliged to serve the people. Please cooperate with the police to get the desired services,” he said.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting organized by citizens of Shahjahanpur Police Station area at Mahbub Ali Auditorium at Shahjahanpur. 

Nazrul said that July 36 or August 5 has started a new chapter in the context of Bangladesh.

“Our young society has created an opportunity to overcome discrimination. We have to implement the dreams of those who gave their lives in the July Movement. New police, new bureaucratic system, new politics and above all a new Bangladesh must be built,” he said.

The Additional Commissioner said that every citizen must play a responsible role from his own position. 

“In every family, parents must raise their children as good citizens and good people. Everyone must ensure that they will not break the law and encourage their subordinates and family members not to break the law. Then it will be possible to build a crime-free society. Everyone must obey the law in unity,” he said.

Motijheel Division Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Shahriar Ali, BPM presided over the discussion meeting, and officials of various ranks of Motijheel Division, leaders of various political, social, professional, religious organizations, heads of educational institutions and leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement were present.

At the outset of the meeting,  one  minute's silence was observed in memory of all the martyrs of  the mass uprising of July-August. Later, prayers were offered with everyone, seeking forgiveness for the souls of all the martyrs.
