DHAKA, Jan 6, 2025 (BSS) - The male members of the July uprising martyred families would enjoy waiver of the existing condition of minimum 65 years of age while purchasing family savings certificates.

The Internal Resources Division (IRD) issued a notification in this regard today.

Earlier, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) issued a special order yesterday exempting the family members of the martyrs of the July Uprising from the obligation to file an income tax return in case of purchasing savings certificates with the money they received as state assistance.

Currently there is an obligation to be at least 65 years for a male person to purchase family savings certificate.

As a result of the issuance of these two notifications, male and female members of the family of the martyrs of the July Uprising can purchase family savings certificates with government grant money without having to file an income tax return, according to an NBR press release today.

It is to be noted that according to the existing provisions, women of any age can purchase family savings certificates. However, no male person except aged 65 years and above, can purchase the family savings certificates.

Therefore, the government relaxed the existing age limit for male buyers from the martyr families.
