NARSINGDI, Jan 8 2025 (BSS)- Sarjis Alam,  Chief  Organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee today  said, the  Great Liberation War of 1971 is our root, similarly,  the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement of 2024 is our existence.

Sarjis Alam made the remark while distributing leaflets   on the July proclamation at Tahmid Chattar in Narsingdi's Bhelanagar area this  afternoon.

"We have to remember our martyrs, our heroic fighters, the platform that united us against discrimination must be upheld the existence as a part of history," he said.

Sarjis said the new political arrangement, all the systems, every word of the people of all works of life must   be mentioned in the written declaration of the July Movement Proclamation.

Sarjis recalled that Narsingdi’s Jailgate intersection was one of the battlegrounds of the 2024 revolution. Fascist Hasina's Chhatra League, Jubo League, Awami League cadres and some haughty police forces opened fire on innocent students and people.

“Where some dressed, some were without clothes, some with weapons, and some were without weapons attacked our students.

They must be brought to book on charges of committing crimes.’ he added.

He also said, "The spirit with which the student movement of 2024 was organized, the hopes and aspirations with which the mass upsurge of 2024 was happened, the dream of a new Bangladesh with which   blood was shed, many lives were lost, those things should be integrated in a written declaration (documentation)."

He distributed leaflets on the 7-point demand, including the declaration of the July 2024 movement.

He started distributing leaflets from Itakhola Moor on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi at noon. Later, he exchanged views with people of all walks of life in different places of Narsingdi and highlighted  the   demands.
