Bangladeshi injured in BSF firing at Shibganj border

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Jan 11, 2025 (BSS)-A Bangladeshi national was injured by firing of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Ajmatpur frontier under Shibganj upazila of the district here early today.

The injured person was identified as Md. Shahidul Islam, 22, son of Anwarul Islam of Bagichapara village under Shibganj upazila of the district.

Commanding Officer (CO) of 59th Battalion of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) Lieutenant Colonel Md. Golam Kibria said, Shahidul along with other Bangladeshi smugglers went about 130 yards inside Indian Territory from the pillar No 182 crossing the Bangladesh border at around 2am.

According to the local people, BSF members of Swashani camp opened fire on them injuring Shahidul.

However Shahidul managed to flee back to Bangladesh, the sources added.
