No reference required to get service from police: DMP

DHAKA, Jan 11, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today assured the service seekers that they will get desired services at the respective police stations irrespective of their identities and status without any lobby or anyone’s reference.

“There is no lobbying or reference required to avail services at police stations. They will get the services they (people) desire," said Additional Police Commissioner (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) of DMP Md. Masud Karim here.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting organized by students, people and residents of DMP's Turag Police Station area.

Mentioning that the police will work as servant of the people, he said, "We are working day and night to change people's perceptions and restore the image of the police forces.”

In this connection, he said that the activities of the police before August 5, 2024 and the activities of the current police forces will definitely not the same. “No money is required now for anyone's posting”. 

"If officer-in-charge (OC) of any police station does something wrong and the Police Headquarters comes to know it, the OC will be changed immediately," he assured.

"Remember one thing, if the OC does not help you, there is an AC above him and you will go to him. If you fail there too, there is an ADC above him, you will go to him," he asked the people. 

He mentioned that many people do not want to come to the police stations and sometimes they even afraid to give information. 

"For them, the names and mobile numbers of some of our senior officers have been given on signboards at various places and it will be made more visible so that you can easily raise your problems," he said.

The Additional Police Commissioner said that their sincere efforts are continuing so that the police can be trusted by the people. "We have been working round the clock to gain the trust of the people," he said.

The students, people and eminent citizens of Uttar khan Police Station area were also present at the meeting.

Chaired by Uttara Division Deputy Police Commissioner Rawnak Jahan, among others, officials of various ranks of Uttara Division, leaders of various political, social, professional, religious organizations, heads of educational institutions and leaders of student movements attended the meeting.
