DHAKA, Jan 13, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey, today pledged to strengthen trade relations with the North American nation and explore broader areas of cooperation between the two countries.

“There’s ample opportunity to further expand trade volume with Mexico,” he said during an interaction with the members of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) in the foreign ministry.

Currently, he said, trade with Mexico exceeds US $600 million, which has the potential to grow significantly.

The ambassador stated that direct cargo services from Bangladesh to Mexico could immediately boost trade by $100 million.

“My first task will be to establish direct cargo services from Bangladesh, which currently operate via India,” he said.

Ambassador Mushfiqul emphasized the need to enhance Bangladesh’s visibility and presence in Mexico.

“I believe there is significant potential to work in this area,” he said, expressing optimism about his role in strengthening ties.

He also underlined the privilege and honor of working under the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, saying “I will strive to uphold the trust and confidence placed in me.”

Ambassador Mushfiqul said he would work to promote the widespread support for Dr. Yunus’s “Three Zeros” vision and the concept of social business, which has gained global traction.

Earlier, DCAB President AKM Moinuddin and General Secretary Md Arifuzzaman Mamun, along with its members, welcomed Ambassador Mushfiqul at the DCAB Lounge.

In October 2024, the interim government appointed Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey as Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Mexico with the rank of senior secretary for three years.
