DoE conducts mobile courts to control environmental pollution

DHAKA, Jan 14, 2025 (BSS) – The Department of Environment (DoE) today conducted mobile court operations across the country to control environmental pollution.

Five mobile courts were conducted in Rangpur, Nilphamari, Mymensingh, Manikganj and Kurigram districts against illegal brick kilns, said a press release of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

The mobile courts filed 13 cases, fined a total of Taka 2,270,000, destroyed raw bricks from two kilns and closed seven kilns, the release added.

Under the Air Pollution Control Rules, 2022, four mobile courts were conducted in Mugda, Dhanmondi, Shah Ali (Dhaka) and Rangpur. 

Mobile courts filed eight cases and fined Taka 92,000. Besides, five establishments were warned of air pollution.

In Dhaka’s Jatrabari area, a mobile court fined drivers of six vehicles Taka 30,000 for emitting excessive black smoke.

In Faridpur, the mobile court filed two cases and fined Taka 1,500 while 82 kilograms (kg) of polythene were seized.
