JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, April 20, 2025 (BSS) - A workshop titled 'Research Methodology' was held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) today.
 
The daylong workshop began at 9:30am at the Teacher's Lounge of the Social Sciences faculty.
 
Professor Dr. Md. Shamsul Alam, acting dean of the Social Sciences faculty, inaugurated the workshop.
 
Dr. Md. Zahid Siraj Chowdhury, Associate Professor at Lincoln University, Malaysia, attended the workshop as the keynote speaker.
 
In his address, he discussed various research methods and emphasized the importance of decolonizing the history, philosophy, and methodology of social science, particularly in the fields of history, philosophy, and sociology.
 
Addressing the participants, Professor Dr. Md. Shamsul Alam expressed his hope that such initiatives would inspire young researchers and students to engage in proper academic research.
 
"If even one student becomes passionate about research through this workshop, that will be our true success," he said.
 
The event was conducted by Associate Professor Kamrul Hasan of JU's Government and Politics department.
 
Faculties from Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, students and faculty members from Jagannath University, and over fifty teachers and students from JU attended the workshop.
 
Following the workshop, a bilateral discussion was held regarding the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Jahangirnagar University and Lincoln University.
 
The discussion was joined by Dr. Md. Zahid Siraj Chowdhury on behalf of Lincoln University and JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan on behalf of the host institution.
