EU Ambassador calls on DU VC

DHAKA, April 22, 2025 (BSS) - European Union (EU) Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller met Dhaka University (DU) Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan at the latter's office here today.

During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interests particularly possibilities of strengthening academic and research cooperation on new technology, curriculum development and knowledge sharing among DU and different universities in Europe, said a DU press release.

They also discussed about undertaking 'Capacity Building for Higher Education Program' and 'Clean-up' campaign at DU, with support from the EU, it said.

Prof Khan briefed history of the country's oldest university and its ongoing education and research activities.

He sought support and cooperation of the EU to further improve the university's education and research.

Millar assured that the EU would extend its support in all possible means.

He stressed the need for strengthening relation between academia and industry to create job opportunities for youths.

Miller also expressed his keen interest to establish 'Jean Monnet Chair' at DU to develop skills of the students and young faculty members.
