DHAKA, June 17, 2025 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) has directed all election officers in 64 districts to dispose of old Category of ‘C’ applications for National Identity Card (NID) revision on a priority basis.

This instruction has been given to all senior district or district election officers, National Identity Registration Division officers and additional regional election officers of 64 districts and 10 regions.

This office order, signed by National Identity Registration Division Director Md. Saiful Islam, was given to regional election officers yesterday.

The office order stated that all senior district or district election officers of 64 districts, officers of the National Identity Registration Division, as well as additional regional election officers of 10 regions mentioned in column 3, have been given authority to conduct a special programme (Crush Programme) to resolve applications of Category ‘C’ for the purpose of resolving applications for correction of national identity cards.

It said that the officers will have to dispose of the pending applications of their region or district by June 30. The regional election officers will have to coordinate and closely supervise the activities of the crash programme, including the disposal of category ‘C’ applications.

The regional election officers, as per the office order issued on April 21, have been allowed to distribute the responsibilities to the neighboring senior district or district election officers and upazila or thana election officers considering the number of Category ‘B’ and ‘C’ applications. The responsible officers will necessarily have to dispose of the old applications on priority basis.

The deputy director or assistant director in charge of the 10 regions of the National Identity Registration Division must verify the activities of the Category ‘C’ crash programme in the region under their jurisdiction through double-checking and submit a report to the director of the National Identity Registration Division.

The director will monitor the overall activities of the crash programme and submit a progress report to the director general of the National Identity Registration Division.
