4 individuals, organisations to get National Wildlife Conservation Award 2025

DHAKA, June 18, 2025 (BSS) - In recognition of their outstanding contributions to wildlife conservation and research, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has officially nominated four individuals and organisations for the National Wildlife Conservation Award 2025.

According to the official gazette issued by Forest Wing-2 of the ministry today, the final nominees are: Md. Fazle Rabbi from Purbo Madhanagar, Naldanga Upazila, Natore District for wildlife conservation (Individual Category); Sherpur Bird Conservation Society for wildlife conservation (Institution/Organization Category); Dr. Md. Monowar Hossain, Professor, Department of Zoology, Jahangirnagar University, for wildlife education and research (Individual Category); and Department of Zoology, University of Dhaka for wildlife education and research (Institution Category).

As per the award guidelines, each awardee will receive a gold medal weighing 2 bhori (23.32 grams) of 22-carat purity, a cheque for BDT 100,000, and a certificate of honour, a ministry press release said. 

This national recognition will enhance public awareness and engagement in wildlife conservation, research, and environmental education. 

It will also inspire eco-friendly initiatives and motivate future generations to protect the country's rich biodiversity, the press release added.
