Policy needed for primary education in private sec: Bidhan Chandra

RAJSHAHI, June 19, 2025 (BSS)- Primary and Mass Education Adviser Dr Bidhan 
Chandra Ray Podder has said policy formulation for primary education in the 
private sector has become an urgent need so that the non-government 
institutions cannot realize extra fees.

"There is no legal bar to operate kindergarten and non-government educational 
institutions but they have no right to realize fees according to their will 
and wish," he said while talking to the journalists after holding a meeting 
here today as the chief guest.

He also noted that the course and curriculum of non-government primary 
institutions should be brought under government control.
 
District Primary Education Office organised the view-sharing meeting with all 
stakeholders titled "Improvement of Primary Education" at the conference hall 
of Primary Teachers Institute (PTI).

With Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Afia Akhter in the chair, the meeting 
was addressed, among others, by Director General of the Directorate of 
Primary Education (DPE) Abu Nur Muhammad Shamsuzzaman, Additional 
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Habibur Rahman, DPE Director Muhammad 
Kamrul Hassan and Divisional Deputy Director of the Department of Primary 
Education Muhammad Sanaullah.

Primary Education Adviser Dr Bidhan Chandra said the teachers should follow 
the teacher's guide for ensuring quality teaching.

Ensuring quality teaching in primary education can be the crucial means of 
grooming and flourishing latent talents of the students as they are the 
future driving force of the nation.

Adviser Dr Bidhan Chandra said the teachers and others concerned should 
discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for quality 
development of primary education as it's the gateway of all higher education.

Besides, he said there is no alternative to quality education for building 
the students as worthy citizens and urged the teachers to attain the 
cherished goal of the nation. 
 
He said the teachers must have dedication towards transforming their students 
into perfect citizens through flourishing their latent talents so that they 
can lead the future Bangladesh successfully.
 
"All of us should take an oath to make primary education up to the mark for 
betterment of the society and the nation as well," he added.
