Hurricane Erick makes landfall in western Mexican state of Oaxaca: NHC

PUERTO ESCONDIDO, Mexico, June 19, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Hurricane Erick, a 
dangerous Category 4 storm, made landfall in the western Mexican state of 
Oaxaca on Thursday, the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) said, with 
flooding and mudslides expected.

"Major Hurricane #Erick makes landfall in extreme western Oaxaca, Mexico just 
east of Punta Maldonado. The estimated maximum sustained winds are near 125 
mph (205 km/h)," the NHC said in a post on social media.
