DHAKA, June 21, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the Awami League during its tenure in power over the past fifteen years had destroyed the country.
"The fascist Awami League had destroyed all institutions including the electoral system, state structure, judiciary, bureaucracy, education and healthcare systems in Bangladesh," he said.
The fascists, he said, "had plundered all our wealth, fled with Taka thousands of crores and deposited a lot of money in Swiss banks in one year," he added.
The BNP Secretary General was delivering a felicitation speech at a reunion event marking the 21st founding anniversary of the Revolutionary Workers Party, a political party in Bangladesh, founded on June 14, 2004 after splitting from the Workers Party of Bangladesh due to disagreements regarding joint actions with the Awami League.
General Secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party Saiful Haque presided over the event at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city. Leaders from various political parties joined it.
Mirza Fakhrul welcomed and wished a good journey of National Citizen Party (NCP) as NCP will apply for registration as a political party tomorrow.
"An opportunity had created to build a democratic state through ouster of the fascist government. If all remain united, this opportunity will be realized. The hopes of the countrymen will be fulfilled through elections in February," he added.
