JASHORE, Sept 14, 2025 (BSS) - An awareness programme on mental health and addiction prevention was held at Professor Mohammad Sharif Hossain Gallery of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) this afternoon.

The programme was organized by the office of the Director, Student Counseling and Guidance of Jashore University of Science and Technology in collaboration with Ahsania Mission Drug Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Center, Jashore.

JUST Anti-Drug Society coordinated the programme. 

Vice-Chancellor of Jashore University of Science and Technology Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid was present at the programme as the chief guest with Dr. Md. Rafiul Hasan, Director of the Student Counseling and Guidance Department of JUST in the chair.

Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun and Deputy Director of Narcotics Control Department Jashore Md. Aslam Hossain were present as special guests. 

Rakhi Ganguly, senior psychologist and addiction specialist of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Health Sector, was present as the main discussant while Syed Mizanur Islam, Manager of Ahsania Mission Drug Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Center Jashore moderated the programme.

The speakers discussed ways to maintain good mental health and how to stay away from various addictions. They also spoke about the importance of maintaining mental health of students and the terrible effects of drugs. At the same time, they gave various guidelines to stay away from addiction.

University teachers, officials at various levels, journalists, representatives of civil society and about 200 students participated at the programme.
