Junior Scholarship 2025: subject-wise structure and marks distribution announced

Dhaka, 14 Sept, 2025 (BSS) - The Secondary and Higher Secondary Education 
Board today released the subject-wise question pattern and marks distribution 
for the Junior Scholarship Examination 2025.

As per the announcement, the exam will cover five subjects Bangla, English, 
Mathematics (100 marks each), and Science, Bangladesh and Global Studies (50 
marks each), totaling 400 marks and each exam will be of 3 hours duration.

The announcement follows a directive from the National Curriculum and 
Textbook Board (NCTB).

On 3 September, the Ministry of Education's Secondary and Higher Education 
Division issued the Junior Scholarship Policy 2025. Under the policy, up to 
25% of Class 8 students (in each school-based on cumulative assessment 
results from Class 7) will be eligible to take part. The percentage may be 
revised by the National Steering Committee.

Two types of scholarships will be awarded as Talent Pool and General.
Students with special needs will receive an additional 30 minutes.
Scholarships will be distributed equally between male and female students. 
however, quotas may be adjusted if eligible candidates are not available in 
one category.

Transferred students may participate in the scholarship exam if listed based 
on merit by their previous institution.
