DHAKA, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) – The Power Division is to sign tomorrow memoranda of understanding (MoU) with five concerned ministries, divisions and departments for installation of rooftop solar power plants as part of a government plan, an official statement said here today.

The energy ministry statement said primary and mass education ministry, health services division, secondary and higher education division, technical and madrasah education division and women and family welfare division would ink the deal at a ceremony at Bidyut Bhaban.

It said signatory organizations would implement “National Rooftop Solar Programme Initiative 'B'” which covers educational Institutions and health facilities in line with the MoU.

Adviser for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Dr Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan will chair the ceremony.

National Rooftop Solar Programme Initiatives aim to increase renewable energy share in the country’s total power generation under OPEX model, subscription-like payments for the service where the institutions will not have to bear installation expenses for the solar projects.

The statement said the introduction of the system would largely save their electricity bills.
