DHAKA, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - The High Court (HC) today directed the
authorities concerned to take necessary action against Messrs BMB Bricks, a
brick kiln located in the Adarsha Sadar area of Cumilla district.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque and Justice
Aynun Nahar Siddiqua passed the order after holding a hearing on a writ
petition.

"Court instructed the Director General (DG) of the Department of Environment
(DoE) to take legal action against Messrs BMB Bricks situated at Kalikapur
mouza under Jagannathpur union in Cumilla Adarsha Sadar upazila for causing
environmental damage," said Advocate Eklas Uddin Bhuiyan, counsel for the
writ petitioner.

The court also ordered the authorities to submit a compliance report on the
action taken by December 19, 2025.

The writ was filed attaching newspaper reports and still photographs that
showed how an influential quarter had been running the illegal brick kiln,
causing extensive environmental harm.

The writ petition named nine respondents, including the Secretary of the
Ministry of Environment and the DG of the Department of Environment.
