Govt. creates 2,258 posts in BGB organogram

DHAKA, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) – The government has created 2,258 posts in Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) structure at different levels of the paramilitary force, a home ministry official said today.

   “The newly created posts ranged from director to sepoy (soldiers) level in line with the BGB requirement,” an official familiar with the process told BSS.

    He said with the development, the total number of posts in BGB would be enhanced to 59,735 from 57,477.
   
    Officials familiar with the process said in line with the BGB requirement, the home ministry earlier proposed the creation of the posts approved by the Committee of Secretaries on Administrative Development on September 10 and subsequently by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

   According to an official document made available to BSS, three new directors, nine additional directors and nine deputy directors will be appointed in BGB under the expanded organogram.

   They will be posted to the paramilitary force on deputation from the armed forces division while the three posts would be earmarked for officers’ equivalent to lieutenant colonels, majors and captains respectively.

   The revised BGB structure will induct three police officers of inspector rank on deputation. 

   The rests will appointed in line with the BGB appointment regulations.

   Among them three are subedars major (all category), 57 nayeb subedar (all category), 240 habildars (all category), 285 nayeks (all category), 15 lance nayeks (office assistant), 327 lance nayeks (all category), 15 soldiers (office assistant) and 1,221 soldiers or sepoys (all category).

   The civilian staffs to be recruited are: three imams, three accountants, three upper division clerks, three office assistant cum computer typists, three midwifes, three office associates.
   Several newly created posts are kept to enhance manpower at the BGB’s Guimara Hospital where with seven habildars (all category), three nayeks (all category), six lance nayeks (all category) and 14 soldiers (all category).
