DHAKA, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - Newly appointed Pakistani High Commission to Bangladesh Imran Haider today met with Food and Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder at his office at the secretariat here.
During the meeting, issues related to bilateral interests, including rice import from Pakistan were discussed, said a press release.
It is mentionable that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on January 14 this year to import 200,000 metric tons of rice from Pakistan on a G2G basis.
The food adviser emphasized on regional connectivity and said that during the tenure of the current interim government, cargo ships have been coming directly from Pakistan's Karachi port to Chattogram Port. Through this, trade activities between the two countries have increased, he added.
Earlier, Pakistani products were imported to Bangladesh through a third country which increased both time and cost.
The Pakistani High Commissioner thanked the adviser and expressed optimism about increasing trade between the two brotherly countries and increasing cooperation for the welfare of the people of both countries.
Food Secretary Md. Masudul Hasan and Pakistan's Political Consul in Bangladesh Kamran Dangal, among others, were present in the meeting.
