DHAKA, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has said the police has been put on maximum alert to prevent any anarchy or anti-state activities ahead of the February 2026 parliamentary elections.

Speaking at a JICA seminar marking the end of the Dhaka Road Traffic Safety Project (DRSP), he said, “A party banned from political activities is trying to create unrest. We’re fully alert.”

He urged DMP officials to act with complete neutrality to ensure a fair and peaceful election, adding that public enthusiasm indicates a vibrant electoral atmosphere by November.

Addressing Dhaka’s chronic traffic congestion, the commissioner stressed coordinated action, public compliance, and better urban planning.

JICA Chief Representative Tomohide Ichiguchi highlighted Japan’s continued support, noting the DRSP trained 6,400 students from 48 institutions over three years to boost road safety awareness.

Senior officials from DMP, city corporations, DTCA, BRTA, and JICA attended the event.
