US Chargé d’affaires pays courtesy call on IGP

DHAKA, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS)- Chargé d’affaires ad interim of US embassy in Dhaka Ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson today paid a courtesy call on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam. 

The meeting was held at the IGP's office at the Police Headquarters, said a press release of the Police Headquarters.

The US Ambassador expressed satisfaction with the professionalism and cooperation of the Bangladesh Police in ensuring the security of US citizens and embassy officials and employees in Bangladesh.

During the meeting, various issues related to the reform activities of the Bangladesh Police, increasing the technical capacity of the Bangladesh Police by various US organizations, and strengthening mutual cooperation were discussed. 

The Ambassador also expressed interest in the security management of the upcoming national parliamentary elections.

The Police Chief said that the police are working with the highest priority to ensure the security of the officials and employees of the US Embassy and other foreign organizations working in Bangladesh.

“Such cooperation will continue in the future,” he said. 

Baharul Alam apprised the US Ambassador of the reform activities of the Bangladesh Police. 

He further said that the police are taking all-out preparations for the upcoming elections through intensive training.

Senior officials of the Bangladesh Police and concerned officials of the US embassy were present at the time.
