DHAKA, Oct 25, 2025 (BSS) - Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid today said the Children Act 2013 requires amendments to protect children.

"Children should be turned into human resources," she said while addressing a workshop titled 'Children's Act 2013: Doubts, Confusion and Inconsistencies' organized by the Law Commission and UNICEF Bangladesh at a hotel in the city.

The adviser said child protection and development is not only the responsibility of the government, it is the moral and social responsibility of everyone. "If we can develop today's children into self-reliant and good citizens then the future will also develop beautifully," she added.

Law Commission Chairman Justice Zinat Ara and UNICEF Bangladesh Country Representative Rana Flowers addressed the workshop as special guests.
