
DHAKA, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) - The 9th Colonel Commandant Coronation of the Corps of Engineers and the Annual Commander Conference 2025 was held at the Engineer Centre and School of Military Engineering (ECSME) at Kadirabad Cantonment in Natore today.
Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman attended the function as the chief guest, said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.
Upon his arrival at ECSME, Waker-uz-Zaman was received by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Army Training and Doctrine Command, the Engineer-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Army, and the Commandant of ECSME.
At the programme, General Waker-Uz-Zaman was crowned as the 9th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineers.
Later, the army chief addressed the commanders and other officials of the the Corps of Engineers and exchange views on the technical development, research, professional skill development and future prospects of the Corps.
During his speech, General Waker-Uz-Zaman also paid tribute to all valiant freedom fighters, including the soldiers of the Corps of Engineers who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War of 1971.
The army chief highlighted the glorious tradition of the Corps of Engineers in nation-building and lauded its various development activities carried out for the service of the country.
"The praiseworthy role of the Corps of Engineers in the development of the country, driven by honesty, truthfulness, and a strong sense of duty, will continue in the future," he said.
The programme was attended, among others, by GOC, Army Training and Doctrine Command; Director General, BIISS; Chief Consultant General, Adhoc Construction Supervision Consultant; Engineer-in-Chief, Adjutant General; GOC, 11 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Bogura Area; senior military officials of the Army Headquarters; Commandant of ECSME; commanders of all Engineer Brigades of the Bangladesh Army; and commanders of Engineer units.
