Another body recovered 12 days after Mirpur fire

DHAKA, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) - Police recovered another body today, 12 days after the fire in a RMG factory and a chemical warehouse at Shialbari, Rupnagar, Mirpur in the capital on October 14.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Mirpur Division Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Makshuder Rahman said the partially burnt and melted body, believed to be a woman's was found in the in the RMG factory where 16 bodies were earlier recovered.

With recovery of the body, the total bodies recovered in the Rupnagar fire stood at 17.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Alim (14), Asma Akhter (13), Mukta Begum (30), Tofail Ahmed (22), Nazmul Islam (40), Nargis Akhter (18), Joy Mia (20), Mona Akhter Samia (14), Mahira (14), Al Mamun (38), Chanowar Hossain (24), Farzana Akhter (15), Mousumi Khatun (23), Rabiul Islam (20), Nur Alam Sarkar (23) and Khalid Hasan (30).

The 16 bodies were handed over to their relatives after confirming their identities through DNA profiling.

The fire at the RMG factory was brought under control on October 14 while the fire fighters are still working to douse the blaze in the chemical warehouse.
