DHAKA, Oct 27, 2025 (BSS) - Shipping and, Labour and Employment Adviser Brig Gen (retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain today said there is no confusion over the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad election as the interim government is ready to assist the Election Commission in holding the polls.

“The objective of the interim government is now clear that we are holding the election. The responsibility for organizing the election lies entirely with the Election Commission, and there is no scope for government interference. The interim government will only provide necessary assistance,” he said.

Sakhawat made the comments after inaugurating the newly constructed three-storey terminal building at Betua River Port in Charfession upazila of Bhola district.

“Once upon a time, hilsa fish were abundant in the Padma River, but now they migrate down through Chandpur to Bhola. At present, the largest number of hilsa comes from Bhola” said the adviser.

“Our main goal is to work for the welfare of the marginalized people, and that is exactly what we are doing,” he added.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Chairman Commodore Arif Ahmed Mustafa, Charfession Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rasna Sharmin Mithi, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Emadul Hossain; and Assistant Superintendent of Police (Charfession Circle) Mehedi Hasan were present, among others.

Later in the afternoon, the adviser inaugurated the newly constructed pontoon at Gachir Khal launch terminal in Nurabad Union of Charfession upazila.
