Cyclone 'Montha' weakens after landfall in Andhra Pradesh

DHAKA, Oct 29, 2025 (BSS) - The severe cyclonic storm "Montha" over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas has weakened after crossing the Andhra Pradesh coast of India at midnight last night.

According to the latest weather bulletin issued by Bangladesh Metrological Department (BMD), the storm now lies over Andhra Pradesh and adjoining regions. It is likely to move further north-northwestwards and gradually weaken while causing precipitation.

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower signals.

Meanwhile, all fishing boats and trawlers operating over the North Bay have been advised to proceed with caution and not to venture into the deep sea until this afternoon.
