
DHAKA, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) - Turkish embassy here has celebrated the Turkish Republic Day with enthusiasm, expressing gratitude and paying tribute to its founding leader, Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
To mark the 102nd anniversary of the declaration of the Turkish Republic, the embassy hosted an event at a city hotel on Wednesday evening bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Turkish Republic Day has been celebrated since 1923 on October 29, the day when Atatürk formally announced the new regime of Türkiye, after the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the War of Independence led by the late leader. Subsequently, Atatürk was elected as the first president of Türkiye.
Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan attended the occasion as the chief guest while Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen, political leaders, Journalists, diplomats from different countries stationed here joined the program, among others.
In his remarks, the advisor expressed satisfaction with the cherished and enduring bilateral relations between Dhaka and Ankara.
He highlighted that Bangladesh and Türkiye share common trade interests, with Türkiye serving as a key export market for Bangladesh. Bilateral trade between the two nations reached over $1.3 billion in 2024, reflecting strong economic ties.
The advisor emphasized that expanding trade relations holds significant promise for mutual benefit.
He also sought Turkish collaboration in developing Bangladesh's renewable energy sector, particularly in green energy initiatives.
Additionally, he commended the impactful work of Turkish aid agencies in supporting displaced Rohingya communities and contributing to humanitarian and developmental efforts in Bangladesh.
In his speech, the Turkish ambassador highlighted the strong, deep-rooted relations between Bangladesh and Türkiye, stating that both nations are working to further enhance these ties.
At the event, a message from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was read out by the ambassador.
