46 AL men held for bringing out sudden processions in city

DHAKA, Oct 31, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested 46 leaders and workers of the Awami League (AL) and its associated organisations from different parts of the capital city during the last 24 hours on charges of bringing out sudden 
processions in the city.

It was confirmed through a press release issued by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)'s media and public relations division here today. 

The arrested have been identified as active members of AL Anisuzzaman Roni (31), Md Munna Mia (26), Md Zakir Hossain Khan (22) and MdKamruzzaman (25), 
General Secretary of Trishal Upazila Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL),the banned student wing of the AL, Mominul Hasan Sohan (29), its members Md Rakibul Hasan (34), Yasin Arafat Shuvo (20), Tasrip Hossain (21), and Md Khaled Bin Kawsar (28), Vice-president of Central BCL Rafiqul Islam Badhon (32), General Secretary of Satkhira District BCL Md Sumon Hossain (33), Organizing Secretary of Kushtia Islamic University BCL unit Mezbaul Islam (25), BCL activist Saiful Islam Saif (31), Active members of AL Md Mostafizur Rahman Joni (37) and Md Sheikh Rasheduzzaman (35), Jubo League worker Md Mamun Sheikh Parash (32), Swechchhasebak League workers Mamun Sheikh (40) and Mohammad Raju (30), Jubo League worker Shafiul Alam (35), AL active worker Zahidul Islam Sunu (40), Jubo League worker Md Quddus Sardar (32), BCL worker Mithun Debnath (34), Bagura District BCL organising secretary Md Bazlur Rahman Badhan (30), Noakhali MunicipalityJubo League Joint Convener Nur Alam Siddique (41), Barguna Sadar Upazila BCL vice-president Mohiuddin Ahmed Dolan 
(23), AL worker Md Rabiul Awal (25), Joy Krishnapur Union BCL President Mithu Debnath (30), Sylhet District BCL member Ashraf Al Kabir Chowdhury (27), Fenchuganj Upazila BCL member Deb Yuthi De Nab (23), Bauria Union BCL President Md Monir Hossain Farhad (21), AL workers Md Alamgir Hossain Johnny (30), Bishwajit Saha (30), Md Mahafuzur Rahman (30), Md A Shukur (35), Abidur Rahman (20), Md Sabbir (19), Md Emon Hossain (19), Fatinur Shimul (19), Md Ariful Islam (19) and Srikant Karmakar (20), Ziyad Mahmud (21), Md Ziyad (20), Md Aslam (21), Md Rifat Islam (19), Md Millat Babu (18) and Md Swapan Mia (22), according to the release.

Several teams of the DMP arrested the AL leaders and workers from different parts of the city today, Deputy Commissioner of the DMP Muhammad Telebur Rahman confirmed. 

The release said that the detainees were involved in organizing and destabilizing the country by holding sudden processions in different parts of the capital.

Legal action is under process against the arrested persons, it added.
