BMET gives occupation, trade tests to overseas workers

DHAKA, Oct 31, 2025 (BSS)- As part of the government’s efforts to promote overseas job for Bangladeshi workers, the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) is giving skill development training to outbound workers.

“The BMET has been conducting skill tests of the overseas job seekers in different trades through authorized 24 Technical Training Centres (TTCs)”, BMET sources said. 

According to the BMET, 3-day skill training is being provided to the overseas job seekers in the TTCs ahead of the skill test in the loading and unloading occupation.

The TTCs are giving training on different occupations including auto electrician, auto mechanic, automotive mechanic, automotive primary service, building electrician, barber, builder, baker, construction and building, carpentry, electrician, electrical mechanic, food & beverage's counter server, heating ventilation and air conditioning, heavy equipment technician, hairdresser, HVAC mechanics, mechanic repair, mechanical, pipe installer, plasterer, plumber, power lines operator, power cable connector, seller, tiles setter, tiling, welding, load and unload worker.

The TTCs are- Korean TTC in Dhaka and Chattogram, Bangladesh-German TTC in Dhaka, TTCs in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Cumilla, Barisal, Mymensingh, Nilphamari, Sylhet, Tangail, Bagura, Khulna, Faridpur, Chapainawabganj, Jashore, Brahmanbaria, Madaripur, Narail, Pabna, Pirojpur, Noakhali, Narsingdi, Meherpur and the TTC run by Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) in Gazipur, the BMET source said.

Earlier, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Expatriate Welfare ministry and Onodera User Run Incorporate of Japan to provide training and certificate to Bangladeshi workers under the Specified Skilled Workers category.
