DHAKA, Oct 31, 2025 (BSS) - Health Services Division Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman paid a surprise visit today to the Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital in Uttara.

During the visit, he directed officials to complete construction of the Cancer, Kidney, and Cardiac Units within the next six months.

The secretary also instructed the concerned authorities to ensure timely recruitment of staff, procurement of furniture and medical equipment, and completion of all related works.

Director (Hospital) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Dr. Moinul Hasan, was present during the visit.

Emphasizing the hospital’s importance as the only government hospital in Uttara, the Health Secretary noted that the emergency department faces a heavy patient load, but the facility’s preparedness remains inadequate.

He urged hospital authorities to strengthen the emergency services, arrange emergency surgeries, and revive 10 closed ICU beds as soon as possible.

Saidur Rahman also stressed the need for improving the hospital’s cleanliness and overall environment. During his inspection, he checked the food served to patients and found it satisfactory.
