Mobile court fines vehicles for noise pollution in Dhaka

DHAKA, Nov 1, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court of the Department of Environment 
(DoE) today conducted a special drive in the capital's Kakrail area to curb 
noise pollution as well as imposed fines on vehicles for using hydraulic 
horns and generating excessive noise.

During the drive, some six vehicles were penalized a total of Taka 23,000 for 
violating Rule 8(1) of the Noise Pollution (Control) Rules, 2006.

To promote public awareness, the court also provided counseling to drivers 
and owners of some 22 other vehicles about the harmful effects of noise 
pollution and the importance of maintaining sound standards, said a handout.

Officials of the Department of Environment said that such drives will 
continue across the city to ensure a healthy and peaceful environment for its 
residents.They urged all vehicle owners and drivers to refrain from using 
hydraulic horns and to cooperate in efforts to reduce noise pollution.
