DHAKA, Nov 2, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Azaz today said dengue can be controlled through public awareness and coordinated efforts of all service-providing agencies.

He made the remarks at a press conference on the current dengue situation and control activities held at the DNCC headquarters in capital's Gulshan area.

"Earlier this year, at the beginning of the monsoon, we held meetings with public health experts and tried to implement their recommendations," Azaz said.

Referring to recent data, he noted that both dengue cases and deaths have decreased compared to previous years.

"However, even a single death from dengue is unacceptable to us. Despite limited manpower, we are trying our best to provide maximum service," he added.

In response to a question, the administrator said DNCC has recently appointed seven field inspectors to strengthen its operations as per experts' advice.

DNCC's Acting Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Asaduzzaman, Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury, entomologist Professor Md Rashedul Islam, representatives from health agencies and hospitals and senior DNCC officials were present at the event.
