DHAKA, Nov 3, 2025 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former principal secretary, economist, and valiant freedom fighter Dr Kamal Uddin Siddiqui.

In a condolence message, the adviser prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Mahfuj said Dr Kamal Siddiqui was a farsighted, dedicated, and honest civil servant who played a significant role in modernizing the country's administrative structure.

A PhD in economics, Dr Siddiqui authored several research-based books that continue to contribute to higher education and research in Bangladesh, he said.

He said the nation's vengeful political environment had forced the patriotic economist to live abroad multiple times. His death is an irreparable loss for the country, said the adviser.

Dr Kamal Siddiqui passed away at his Gulshan residence in the capital early Monday (November 3).
