DHAKA, Nov 3, 2025 (BSS) - The High Court (HC) has stayed the proceedings of
the recruitment circular issued for the appointment of the Managing Director
(MD) of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) on a three-year
contractual basis.

A High Court Division Bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Fatema Anwar
passed the order.

The court also issued a rule, asking the authorities concerned to explain why
the recruitment process should not be declared illegal. The court directed
the respondents, including the Secretary of the Local Government Division, to
submit their replies within four weeks.

Earlier on August 14, a circular was published seeking applications for the
post of Dhaka WASA's Managing Director. One Md Liakat Ali filed a writ
petition seeking a stay on the recruitment process.
