
BOGURA, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS) - Thousands of leaders and activists of Gabtali
Poura unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have started carrying out
massive mass campaign in favor of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in the
district through distributing leaflets seeking votes for 'Sheaf of Paddy',
symbol of the party, in the ensuing next general election.
Earlier on yesterday, BNP announced possible candidates for 237 out of 300
parliamentary constituencies ahead of the upcoming national polls, with
Khaleda Zia, the former Prime Minister of the country, nominated for three
seats.
The BNP chairperson has been nominated to contest from Dinajpur-1, Bogura-7,
and Feni-1 constituencies while the party's acting chairman, Tarique Rahman,
will contest from Bogura-6.
Following the announcement, a huge procession started from the central
Shaheed Minar premises and paraded through various streets of the
municipality yesterday.
The rally, organised by the Gabtali Poura unit of BNP under the leadership of
District BNP's Human Rights Affairs Secretary and former mayor Saiful Islam,
drew participation of thousands of men and women alongside party leaders and
activists.
Poura BNP President Kayeduzzoha Tipu, its General Secretary Abdur Rahim
Pintu, former Upazila BNP convener Abul Hossain Molla, former Poura BNP
convener Dr. Sabed Ali, UP Chairman Abdul Wahab, Tariqul Islam were present,
among others, at the rally.
The leaders said that Begum Khaleda Zia would contest from this constituency
while they had started distributing 31-point leaflets seeking votes for the
'Sheaf of Paddy' in her favor.
They also vowed to elect Begum Khaled Zia through a landslide victory with
the highest number of votes from this constituency which is also the
birthplace of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
They informed that such a mass campaign would continue in full swing till the
next election to reach the message of BNP to every household.
Meanwhile, on yesterday evening, the district unit of BNP brought out a
procession after BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia
and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman were declared as BNP candidates from
Bogura-7 and Bogura-6 constituencies respectively.
