Firearms license renewal for 2026 begins in Dhaka on Nov 2

DHAKA, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS)- Dhaka District Magistrate’s Office has announced that the renewal of firearm licenses for the year 2026 in Dhaka district, including the metropolis, will take place from November 2, 2025 to January 31, 2026. 

According to the notice, firearm holders must exhibit the firearms physically without bullets to the concerned magistrate during the renewal process. 

Legal action will be taken against the firearm holders who will fail to renew their licenses within the specified period.

Applicants must submit a copy of challan of online payment of the renewal fee, TIN certificate, photocopy of national identity card, photo copy of license, two passport-size photographs, and the original license. 

The Home Ministry has set the firearm license renewal fee for 2026 as per the Firearm License Issuance, Renewal and Use Policy 2025, issued on July 10, 2025. 

License renewal fee for pistols and revolvers (individual level) is Taka 20,000 as while Taka 10,000 for guns, shotguns, and rifles (individual level) and Taka 10,000 for long barrels (guns, shotguns, rifles).

For financial institution and banks renewal fee for long barrels (guns, shotguns, rifles) is Taka 10,000 while Taka 20,000 will be applicable for renewal of long barrel (gun, shotgun and rifle) of the other institution. 

Renewal fee for dealing and arms repair establishments is Taka 10,000 and Taka 6,000 for renewal of the safe keeping license.

The notice also mentioned that in all cases 15 percent VAT and 10 percent source tax will be added with the renewal fees.
