BNP thanks CA for announcement of holding polls, referendum same day

DHAKA, Nov 13, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today thanked the Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus for the announcement of holding upcoming national polls and the referendum on the July National Charter on the same day in the first half of February next. 

In a written statement at a press conference, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, "BNP thanks the Chief Adviser of the interim government for reiterating the announcement of holding the general election in the first half of February and announcing that the referendum will be held on the same day in his address to the nation today." 

Earlier, BNP Standing Committee meeting was held at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan at 7pm. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman presided over the meeting. 

Fakhrul added that the meeting called upon the government and the Election Commission to hold the referendum to seek public consent on the July National Charter signed by consensus on October 17 and to organize the general election as soon as possible. 

BNP Standing Committee Members Salahuddin Ahmed, Selima Rahman, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy were present during the press conference.
