29,912 workers received legal assistance at govt expense so far

DHAKA, Nov 23, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 29,912 people have so far received legal assistance at government expense from Dhaka and Chattogram Workers Legal Aid Cells under the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO).

The information was published in a report uploaded on the organization's website, official sources said today.

According to the report, a total of 13,30,161 people have received legal assistance at government expense from the organization from 2009 to October this year and among them, 4,47,740 cases of insolvent litigants received legal aid. 

During the same period, 29,912 people received assistance through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, while 10,77,803 people received services through Legal Aid Offices in the country's 64 districts.

The report also said that 1,92,702 people received services through the toll-free call center (16430) under government legal aid. This number has recently been changed to 16699.

These services have been provided at government expense under the Legal Aid Services Act with the aim of extending legal support to financially insolvent and underprivileged litigants across the country.

The NLASO carries out its activities under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
