DHAKA, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS) – The government today approved a proposal for procuring some 50,000 metric tons of non-Basmati para-boiled rice.

The approval came from the 47th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase in this year held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.

The Ministry of Food submitted the proposal under Package-06 through international open tendering method for the current fiscal year (FY26). Singapore-based M/S Agrocorp International Pte Ltd has been recommended as the qualified bidder with around Taka 216.43 crore.

The committee examined relevant documents and recommended the proposal for approval.

Officials said the import will help maintain adequate food grain reserves and support price stability in the domestic market.
