DHAKA, Dec 14, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today paid homage to the Martyred Intellectuals on behalf of party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir placed a wreath at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur this morning, marking Martyred Intellectuals Day.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Pakistani occupation forces had carried out a planned attempt to intellectually cripple the nation just before victory, but ultimately failed in their objective.

"The dream of building a new Bangladesh envisioned by Tarique Rahman will be realized," he added.

Mirza Fakhrul further said that the BNP would continue its struggle to protect the country's sovereignty and democracy, expressing hope that democracy would be restored by braving all conspiracies.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Standing Committee Member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and other senior party leaders were present at the programme.
