Australian Prof. Olav Muurlink meets DU VC

DHAKA, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS) - Prof. Dr. Olav Muurlink of Central Queensland University of Australia today paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan at the latter's office on the campus.

Associate Professor Dr. Dilara Zahid of DU Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies was present at the meeting.

Possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs on disaster management and child education in coastal areas of Bangladesh between Dhaka University and Central Queensland University were discussed at the meeting. 

The meeting also discussed arrangement of training programs and workshops for young teachers and students of DU in cooperation with the Central Queensland University.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan stressed the need to reduce the gap between policy and practical academic literature to ensure quality research outcomes that will benefit common people.
