KU students to get fully funded higher study opportunity at Japan university

KHULNA, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS) – Students of Khulna University (KU) will get the opportunity to pursue higher education and research with full funding at University of Yamanashi under a special scholarship programme.

The opportunity is being offered for the October 2026 intake under the Special Recommendation Programme of Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two universities.

Under the programme, students from the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) disciplines of KU will be able to pursue fully funded postgraduate studies (Master’s and PhD). Interested students have been asked to apply by January 15.

In this connection, a briefing session was held today at 10.00 am at the URP Lecture Theatre of KU.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim addressed the session as the chief guest, saying that the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies with full funding at a technologically advanced country like Japan is extremely significant for KU students.

He said such initiatives would open new horizons for knowledge, research and international exposure, and thanked Professor Dr Md Shamim Ahsan of the ECE Discipline for initiating the collaboration with the University of Yamanashi.

Vice-President (Academic Affairs and Digital Transformation) of the University of Yamanashi, Professor Hanawa Masanori, was present as the resource person and elaborated on the application process, eligibility criteria, research opportunities, scholarship facilities and overall academic life in Japan.

At the end of the session, Professor Hanawa Masanori was presented with a crest of honour on behalf of Khulna University by the Vice-Chancellor.

Director of the Office of International Affairs Professor Dr Md Ashik Ur Rahman delivered the welcome address. 

Among others Pabna University of Science and Technology Treasurer and KU ECE Professor Dr Md Shamim Ahsan, ECE Discipline Head Professor Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, and senior faculty member Professor Dr Md Ismat Qadir, were present.
