
DHAKA, Dec 29, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 2,582 nomination papers have been submitted to returning and assistant returning officers across 300 constituencies ahead of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections.
Meanwhile, 3,407 nomination papers were collected by prospective candidates, according to the Election Commission (EC).
The scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled to take place from December 30, 2025, to January 4, 2026. The information was disclosed in a release signed by ASM Humayun Kabir, Director General of the NID Wing and convener of the 13th national polls central coordination committee.
Today marked the final date for submission of nomination papers to returning and assistant returning officers.
Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat Akhter Ahmed said this evening that no further extension would be granted for submission.
The election schedule was announced by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin on December 11, 2025, in a nationwide address. As per the revised gazette notification issued by the EC on December 18, the deadline for filing appeals against returning officers' decisions has been reduced by two days, while the time for disposal of appeals has been extended by two days.
