DMP files 1,714 cases over traffic rule violations

DHAKA, Jan 4, 2026 (BSS) – The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed a total of 1,714 cases against motor vehicles and drivers for violating traffic rules in the capital.

The DMP has been conducting a campaign against traffic violations in the city to bring the traffic system under proper management, according to a statement issued today by the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division. The statement was signed by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman.

It said that 361 motor vehicles were impounded and 198 vehicles were seized during the campaign against traffic rule violations on January 3.

The statement added that different traffic divisions carried out the drives across the capital.

It further said that the Motijheel Traffic Division filed 240 cases, Wari 343 cases, Tejgaon 171 cases, Mirpur 348 cases, Gulshan 115 cases, Uttara 291 cases, Ramna 88 cases and Lalbagh 118 cases against motor vehicles, three-wheelers and motorcycles.
