
KHULNA, Jan 18, 2026 (BSS) - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) distributed relief items and blankets among poor and destitute families in Paikgachha upazila of southern Khulna, which has been hit hard by cold weather and dense fog.
The relief distribution was led by Rashed Al Mail Al Jabi, Director for Foreign Assistance Affairs at the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Bangladesh, on Sunday morning at the Kapilmuni Srirampur Zia Primary Health Care Centre premises.
Above 200 underprivileged families received food items and blankets on the occasion.
After the distribution, Rashed Al Mail Al Jabi exchanged greetings with local residents.
He also visited the health care centre and a madrasa, expressing satisfaction over their activities. Later, he visited Taltala Jame Mosque and exchanged pleasantries with local devotees.
He assured that the UAE’s assistance to Bangladesh would continue in future.
Among others, Chairman of Board of Directors Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Joint Editor of the Daily Ittefaq, Anwar Aldin, noted social worker Khandaker Enamul Haque, Principal of Kapilmuni College Habibullah Bahar, and other local dignitaries, were present at the event.
Local residents expressed satisfaction after receiving the food items and relief. They conveyed gratitude to Almighty Allah and thanks to the Government of the United Arab Emirates for the donation.
