Khalid Hossain urges Hamdard University graduates to help change country

DHAKA, Jan 31, 2026 (BSS) - Religious Affairs Adviser Dr A F M Khalid Hossain today called upon the Hamdard University graduates to work for changing the country with the knowledge acquired from the university.

"Serve the society with knowledge, ethics, and values," he said.

He made the remarks while presiding over the first convocation programme of the Hamdard University held today at its permanent campus in Hamdard Nagar, Gazaria, Munshiganj.

As many as 1,754 graduates received undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Addressing the graduates, the adviser said university graduates are key drivers of the nation and called on them to work with honesty and integrity to change the country, noting that Bangladesh’s 54-year journey includes both achievements and failures. 

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan delivered the convocation speech.

Khan urged graduates to remain grateful to their parents and guardians and to face future challenges with skills, tolerance, and commitment to public welfare.

Among the award recipients, Md. Ashraful Hossain of the Faculty of Business received the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, while Professor Dr. Kamrunnahar Harun Palin received the Founder’s Gold Medal. 

Eight other graduates were honored with Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medals.

Earlier in the day, the adviser inaugurated the Zakat Fair-2026 organized by the Center for Zakat Management at the Officers’ Club in Bailey Road, Dhaka.
