19 students win 'TFP Creative Excellence Awards' at DU

DHAKA, Feb 3, 2026 (BSS) - Nineteen students of Dhaka University received the '2nd TFP Creative Excellence Awards 2025' today, presented by the Department of Television, Film and Photography (TFP) on the occasion of the department's 14th founding anniversary. 

A total of 129 works, including films and news reports, were submitted for this year's competition. A jury comprising the country's renowned filmmakers, producers, cinematographers, film critics, screenwriters and journalists nominated 41 works in 19 categories. 

As part of the day-long programme, 26 nominated films were screened at the Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium. Winners were presented with their awards following the screening. 

Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed, Vice-Provost (Academic) of Dhaka University, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. He said, "Over the 14 years since its establishment, the Department of Television, Film and Photography has shown remarkable success in bridging academia and industry. I believe this continuity in creative work will continue in the future."

He congratulated the award-winning students and assured full support to advance the department's educational programmes and creative initiatives.

Department Chairman Saiyeed Shahjada Al Kareem said the programme was organised to nurture students' creative confidence. "With adequate support, this department will be able to provide world-class education and establish Dhaka University as a centre of creative work recognised worldwide," he added.

He also thanked the guests, jury members, faculty and students on behalf of the department.
