Health ministry to be made corruption, syndicate-free: Sakhawat

NARSINGDI, Feb 20, 2026 (BSS) - Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain today said the health ministry will be transformed into a corruption and syndicate-free, service-oriented institution.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after exchanging greetings with administrative officials and party leaders at his residence in Monohardi upazila of Narsingdi.

The minister said the government is working to make healthcare services universal and easily accessible. 

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the health sector will undergo major reforms to meet public expectations, he added.

He announced plans to establish a medical college in Narsingdi, fully operationalize the district's 250-bed hospital and other health centres, and set up two ICU units in the district soon.

The minister also said the government would work for all citizens equally, regardless of political affiliation, to build a prosperous Bangladesh based on the spirit of the Liberation War.
