Visa extension sought for Bangladeshi workers stranded over Middle East conflict

DHAKA, March 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take steps for extending visas of Bangladeshi workers who are unable to return to their workplaces in the Middle East due to the ongoing war.

Many Bangladeshi expatriate workers who came home on leave from the Middle East are currently unable to return due to the conflict and their visas have already expired, said an official release this evening.

To address the situation, the Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry has requested the Foreign Ministry to facilitate extension of their visas, it added.
